Life: God’s Virtual Reality

by Mark A. Staton

Reincarnation Choice

Reincarnation is not automatic. To attempt reincarnation is a conscious choice, but not all souls succeed. Some souls have never experienced a life as a human being. Their only source of knowledge about physical life comes from sharing the thoughts of other souls. However, when souls share their thoughts and memories, it is far more intimate than simply listening to a story, because information from all the senses is stored in the soul's memories. If you, or more accurately, your soul, is sharing thoughts with another soul, then you see what they saw, feel what they felt (touch), smell what they smelled, hear what they heard, taste what they tasted, and feel what they felt (emotions). The ability to link minds during the sharing process grows as souls advance to higher levels, but even at the lowest level where sharing is possible, it is a far different experience than we are accustomed to during our lives. For some souls, this is sufficient. They never experience "incarnation," so they also do not experience "reincarnation."

As wonderful as the sharing process can be, it is still not the same as living a life yourself. Every soul that has experienced a life first hand, knows this. They communicate this to the souls who have not lived a life, so they know there is a difference, but exactly how different remains a mystery to them. They must be willing to take a chance to really know what they are missing.

Most souls choose to experience life first hand. Many of them are satisfied with their one life and never choose to experience another. Their level of understanding during the sharing process is much greater after they have a lifetime's worth of their own experiences. Some of them live very full lives indeed. Their lives are full of friends and family, work and play, love and hate, and joy and sorrow. When their life ends, and their consciousness re-awakens in Heaven, they go through the reconciliation process. They are re-united with their loved ones that have "returned" before them. They share their thoughts with them, and see their lives from different perspectives. There are usually some happy, and also some painful surprises. At first they think they will be together with their family in Heaven forever. But soon, when the reconciliation process is over, their memories of their life in Heaven return, and they know it is not to be. They must return to their true level within Heaven, determined by their spiritual advancement. It is partly a measure of their "goodness" according to God's scale. It is really just a coincidence if any of their former friends and family happen to be on their same level. On the other hand, they may have spiritual friends, that they never saw during a lifetime, that they can visit with once again. However, it is very common after experiencing a life "in the flesh," for a soul to advance to a higher level. Sometimes, a soul will actually drop a level. It is a combination of the life you happen to experience, mostly a matter of chance, and what you can learn from your life experience. Whether you experience a bad life or a good one, it is what you get out of it that is important. When you examine your life after your consciousness returns to Heaven, your place is determined by how you have actually changed, and in a place controlled by thought, you come closest to being what you think.

It may sound too simple, and too easy. If all you have to do to advance, is to think differently, then you will just think differently, and jump to a higher level. But Heaven is a place where thoughts are open. You cannot pretend, and you cannot get by with a couple of thoughts that are better than most of your usual ones. Your place is determined by how you actually are, at the moment, and not how you think you ought to be. Fortunately, your place is not fixed in any way. You are free to grow and change. In an environment where most souls you encounter want to help you, assuming you are above the lowest level, and the biggest obstacle to your advancement is yourself, it is unusual for a soul not to advance, although many souls advance much slower than they would wish.

Souls that are eager to advance, soon learn that the souls that experience more than one lifetime, are the ones that seem to advance the fastest. There is certainly not a direct correlation between the number of lives experienced and the level attained in Heaven, but greater experience often leads to greater understanding. Greater understanding often leads to greater insight into yourself and others. There is no guarantee that this will fundamentally change you for the better, but the odds begin to tip in your favor.

Some souls choose to experience many lives in their quest for Heavenly advancement. They spend comparatively little time, consciously, in Heaven, before they seek to connect with another young life that is not yet taken. They appear like stars in the sky of Heaven. The souls who are seeking a life experience must reach out to them and try to form a connection. It is possible for souls to form fleeting attachments to other life-forms, but the connection is limited, and easily broken. By chance, human beings, among others in the universe, possess the kind of brain and mind that allows souls to form complete connections, similar to the sharing of thoughts in Heaven. These connections usually last for the entire lifetime of the human being. Everything that passes through the mind of the person, also flows through the connection to the soul. While you are alive, your mind and soul are one. When your body dies, your mind lives on in your soul. If you live only one life, there are few differences between your mind and your soul's consciousness.

If you live a second life, there may be major differences. When all your memories return, after the reconciliation process, you will have to integrate two entirely different perspectives. For example, you may have been a man in one life, and a woman in the other. You would have two sets of families. However you felt towards your family in your last life, you realize that you had another family before them. You also realize that some of them also had previous lives, with previous families. You shared a brief span of time with them, but eternity provides a different perspective. In fact, even if you only experience one life, it is unlikely that all of your family members were experiencing their first lives.

As you experience many lives in succession, the combinations multiply. You will probably experience being both a mother and a father, a son and a daughter. You will experience multiple cultures and multiple eras in history. There is much to learn, and so little time to learn it. You begin each life as a clean slate. Although some very young children, up to about age 2, seem to have memories from other lives, or from their time in Heaven, it soon fades away like a dream. As you live and grow, you learn many of the same lessons you learned in prior lives. The more advanced souls spend a large portion of their lives relearning life's lessons, just to reach the level they were at before. When you return (or wake up) to Heaven, you regain your memories, after the reconciliation process. You either return to your former level in Heaven, or move to your new one. If you choose, you may seek to be born again. There is always a chance you will do better next time.
