Life: God’s Virtual Reality

by Mark A. Staton

How to Make Contact, II

I wrote about this topic once before. I was much more confident then. I've been afraid to try my method again. I can remember what I was trying to do. I know the steps leading up to it. I can describe them fairly well because I had practiced for several months. The process evolved from a blend of several other techniques and ideas, into what I hoped would work well for me. Most of the theory behind it was developed after I achieved success. I didn't really know anything until it worked. Then I knew I must have made some correct assumptions. I don't know if this will work for anyone else, or for that matter, for me again. I hope so. I have been afraid to try because it might not work, and the fear of confirming that I can't duplicate the experience has me paralyzed. Logically I know I have been foolish to fall into the trap of such thinking, but I get rather emotional about this topic. I'm afraid I might somehow lose the peace and joy I have found. It's not very likely, but I'd rather not know than to confirm the worst. I've had difficulty explaining my thoughts and feeling to myself. I was just swept along by them. I actually think my resolve is growing. I think I have taken the information from the first experience as far as I can. It is time to go back for more. I'm also a little afraid it might work. The first time profoundly changed me, I think for the better. A second time might change me again, and I don't want to risk losing what I have gained. There's no reason not to expect it to be a positive experience, but it was rather overwhelming the first time. Knowing what to expect, I should be able to handle it much better. I will try again soon. After all, it will probably take some practice to regain my skill level. I shouldn't really expect to achieve contact on my first try after such a long break. And yet, ever since that first time, so long ago, I have never totally lost that feeling of contact. It has become very small, but it's still there. I think that's one of the reasons my insights have kept coming over the years, without going back for the full force treatment. Now that I know what I am trying to do, will it make it that much easier, or harder? It's like someone standing in a dark room, and afraid to move around too quickly. One glimpse of the room in the light that reveals nothing but a sofa off to one side, would give them more confidence. They could move around the darkened room much faster, and not fear bumping into other things. I just mean, you could move straight to where the sofa was, and you might bump your shin, but you'd find it rather quickly. You might have to feel around a little, but you'd know what you were looking for. I haven't reviewed my previous writings on this topic for a long time. It will be interesting to see how similar they are.

Remove as many physical distractions as possible. Lying on my back on a bed in a quiet, darkened room worked best for me. It helps not to be too sleepy when you try this.

Place your fingertips together with your palms apart and your fingers curved slightly. Adjust each finger, including your thumbs, until they feel symmetrical. Think of a spider doing pushups on a mirror.

Imagine energy flowing through your hands. Try to feel it concentrating at your fingertips. This was a key for me. I had felt the energy in my hands for as long as I could remember having thought about it at all. I don't know if this is something that can be learned, or if it is truly a requirement. If you don't feel anything, just play along. Go through the motions.

Imagine your hands are connected at the fingertips. Pull your palms apart slightly, and your fingertips should continue touching. Your fingertips may all draw together a bit.

As you push and pull your hands, you will feel various stresses. Try to find a place in the middle where your fingers are not curved to the point where very short fingernails would be touching. My palms at this point are between 3 and 4 inches apart.

When you have become familiar with the energy feeling, you should be able to separate your fingertips slightly, and retain the feeling of the energy between your fingertips. Mine are usually an inch or less apart.

Your task is to focus your attention on the feeling, and clear your mind of other thoughts. You don't have to concentrate on your questions. You are always sending signals to the other side. The difficult part is listening for something coming back the other way.

You must stop sending such a flood of information upline that you can't hear anything coming back. The only way I know to do this, short of a near death experience - which I do NOT recommend, is to clear and calm your mind and limit your sensations. A sensory deprivation tank might be ideal, but I've never experienced one, so I don't know. I know it's not necessary.

You will know you are on the right track when your senses become heightened. You should start to hear faint sounds you missed before. You may suddenly feel an itch. I find that happens to me frequently. You may suddenly notice your position is not as comfortable as you originally thought. These are positive signs of beginning success. Don't let them throw you off track. If you can stop a noise, go ahead. If scratching your itch helps, go ahead. If you want to adjust your body, go ahead. Then go right back to where you were with a minimum of interruption.

If you just can't manage to stay still for more than a couple minutes, it probably means you are not very familiar with being in this state. You may need to practice up to this point until it becomes more routine.

Control or eliminate all distractions within your means. If you can't do either of those things, then try to ignore them. Ignoring distractions well takes practice. You must get to the point where the act of ignoring itself doesn't become a distraction.

Remember, you have always been in contact with your soul, you just don't have any experience with your soul communicating with your conscious mind.

With my eyes shut, I concentrate on the energy. I begin to imagine it as a point of light in the darkness. It is not a sharp light, but a soft one. It is not a point, like a star, but more like a small disk or coin.

In your mind, move closer to the light. Reach out with your mind and touch the light. Become one with the light. Relax into the light. Be the light.

Think of nothing. Be calm and quiet. Wait. If you are being successful, the most distracting thing should be your own thoughts. It is very difficult to turn off the chatter inside your mind. There's a little voice inside my head that doesn't want to stop for even a moment. Have it slow down and get quieter. With lots of practice, you may be able to control your inner voice. I practiced a lot.

I was at the above state of readiness when I suddenly felt the thoughts, ideas, information, images, etc. pouring into my mind. I assume that by recreating the same conditions, I might have another enlightening experience. I hope so. And I hope you can do so too. Good Luck.
